Bill 2, Workplace Safety and Insurance Amendment Act (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), 2014 , introduced by Cheri di Novo (NDP- Parkdale-High Park), passed first reading in the Legislative Assembly today.
The bill adds a clause that that if an emergency response worker (firefighter, police officer, paramedic) suffers from PTSD, the disorder is presumed to be an occupational disease caused by that work, unless the contrary is shown. In the previous parliament as Bill 67, the legislation passed second reading and was sent to the Standing Committee on General Government before the Assembly was dissolved for new elections.
