Social assistance rates are stuck in time

June 27, 2026

Every year, our friends at Income Security Advocacy Centre (ISAC) publish current social assistance rates so that Ontarians on social assistance, their advocates, and anyone paying attention can see what Ontario’s social assistance programs provide. This year, Ontario Works (OW) rates remain the same for another year, with Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) rates receiving a paltry inflation-related increase and nothing more, and all other mandatory special benefit amounts (Guide Dog benefit, Breastfeeding benefit, etc.) unchanged.

Before the government’s budget session in the fall, let’s help bring attention to the issue of low social assistance rates!

Visit ISAC’s OW and ODSP rates and OCB rates as of July 2026: Social Assistance Rates are Stuck in Time to learn more about this issue, and participate in a letter writing tool which helps you email Ontario’s Premier, the Minister responsible, and your local MPP.

We also encourage you to ask your MPP for a meeting to discuss OW specifically, and the fact that inflation has eroded its value even further this year. If you want ISAC to join you at the MPP meeting, they will. If you want stats/data to support you in your meeting, they can help. If you got this on your own, that’s cool too, just let ISAC know how the meeting goes as it will help inform their campaign strategies. Contact ISAC at 1-866-245-4072 or info@isac.clcj.ca
