Researchers looking for digital platform workers in the private household sector

October 21, 2024

In recent decades, law and policy reform has become increasingly based on what “research shows” rather than what seems fair and just. The School of Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo has published research on many issues of importance the injured worker community. For example, their recent study “Retirement pension poverty among injured workers with long-term workers’ compensation claims”.

Dr. Juyeon Lee is a postdoctoral fellow at the University working on a project titled “Working Behind the Closed Doors: Examining Policy and Research Needs for Digital Platform Workers in the Private Household Sector”. She would like to interview Ontario workers age 18 or over who are using apps or online platforms to provide a variety of household tasks or services in private homes such as home cleaning, child, pet, or senior care, furniture (dis)assembly, minor home repairs (no special skills or permits required).

A poster with details is attached [click here]. If you are one of these workers or know someone who is, please speak with Juyeon and consider participating or invite them to participate in the research. There is an honorarium for participants.
