Remembering Sharon Dale Stone

July 14, 2014

SD_StoneA Celebration of Life is being organized shortly to commemorate the life and achievements of the late respected academic activist, Dr Sharon Stone, Chair of the Dept. of  Sociology at Lakehead University. Dr Stone was well-known to the injured worker community for her work on disability studies and injured workers’ rights., including participation in the recent RAACWI project on injured workers’ experiences of stigma.
An ally of the Thunder Bay & District Injured Workers Group, Dr Stone co-authored the 2002 report “Connecting for Change: injured workers in Northwestern Ontario and the effectiveness of peer support”. Among her many works she authored “Workers without work: Injured workers and well-being” (Journal of Occupational Science, 2003) and co-edited “Working Bodies: Chronic Illness in the Canadian Workplace” (2014).
