Precarious workers and return to work

November 26, 2019

How do precarious workers access workers’ compensation and return to work accommodation? How do power imbalances, aggressive WSIB deeming and vocational rehabilitation practices affect the low-wage injured worker? What are the barriers to meaningful access by Ontario’s migrant workers to return to work? How successfully do immigrants access workers’ compensation in the context of language barriers? How does return to work play out for injured mobile workers and those working out of province?
video presentations at National Symposium on Return to Work
These are among the issues addressed in the 2019 National Symposium on Return to Work in a Changing World of Work, held in Ottawa May 16-19 and organized by the Canada Research Chair on Occupational Health & Safety Law. Videos from the symposium have now been posted, with presentations by advocates and researchers including Katherine Lippel, Ellen MacEachen, Maryth Yachnin, Margaret Keys, Sonja Senthanar, Dana Howse
