October 1 & 2, 2026 in Toronto
The Ontario Network of Injured Workers Groups (ONIWG) and the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) have teamed up to organize the 2026 Injured and Ill Worker Conference “Rise Up for the Future of Injured and Ill Workers”. The conference is being held in person in Toronto at the IEBW Local 353 Union Hall (1377 Lawrence Ave E).
Injured Workers can apply for financial assistance to cover travel and hotel costs. Indicate your request in the registration form by August 7, 2026.
The agenda for Thursday October 1, 2026 will include several panels and campaign highlights on topics related to injured and ill workers, including: Claims Suppression, Occupational Disease, Psychological Claims, recent proposed changes to Ontario’s workers’ compensation system (Bill 105), and more! There will be union representatives, workers compensation experts, researchers, legal clinics, and injured workers learning and building connections together.
Friday October 2, 2026 will focus on ONIWG building the injured workers’ movement. We will talk about the history and future of the injured workers’ movement, learn leadership skills that will help us build and lead local injured workers groups in an inclusive manner, and hold ONIWG’s Annual General meeting (election of the ONIWG Board of Directors and other ONIWG business). We will finish the day with a dinner and social gathering to get to know one another better and build solidarity.
Please RSVP and reserve your free ticket to join the October 1 and 2 conference, and to request financial support to attend.
