Injured Workers Action for Justice and Justicia. are holding an emergency rally this Friday, July 24, at the Ministry of Labour, 400 University Ave, Toronto, at 12:00 p.m.
“We want to raise our grave concerns regarding the recent deaths of several migrant agricultural workers across Ontario. It is our understanding that over the last month, 8 workers have died in a period of a little over 30 days. These are the deaths that have been heard, but it is more than likely that this does not capture the full picture of fatalities due to underreporting and the repatriation mechanism, where workers are sent home to their home countries rather than receiving the much-needed healthcare they are entitled to.” (IWAJ)
