Injured worker activist honoured

November 11, 2015

Dynamic injured worker activist Maryam Nazemi, member of the Women of Inspiration and a leading advocate for universal coverage of all Ontario workers, was recently honoured for her work over 15 years in the struggle for a fair compensation system.

Maryam,  2015 recipient of the Injured Worker Activist award, was introduced by Karl Crevar (Canadian Injured Workers Alliance) at the annual event organized by the Workers Health & Safety Centre, in cooperation with Toronto & York Region Labour Council, the Central Ontario Building Trades, the OFL Occupational Disability Response Team and Injured Workers Consultants. Present to share proudly in recognition of her work were representatives of  groups with which she works, including members of the Ontario Network of Injured Workers Groups (ONIWG), IWC, the OFL and with the Iranian Canadian Congress.
