Thunder Bay & District Injured Workers Support Group invites you to their weekly Tuesday morning Zoom meeting, held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Everyone is welcome! This week’s session on Caregiver Support and Injured Workers will be hosted by Injured Workers Community Legal Clinic (IWC).
Guest speaker is Lauren Bates, a long-time advocate for human rights, disability rights, equality in health. Lauren is the Chair of the Ontario Caregiver Coalition (OCC), a grassroots coalition of unpaid caregivers and organizations that support caregivers – the family, friends and neighbours who provide essential support for those living with disability, injury, and illness.
OCC is currently campaigning for a monthly caregiver benefit in Ontario, as well as other supports such as respite and access to mental health services, to help support the essential work that family and friends provide to people (such as injured workers) who rely on their assistance.
