August 7, 2014

“Injured workers hold demonstration to raise awareness” / (Manitoulin Expositor, Aug. 6, 2014)

ManitoulinNSIWGWith their demonstration at the Kagawong Summer Festival, Manitoulin North Shore Injured Workers Group (MNIWG) raised awareness of what their 38 members, and other injured workers around the province, face in trying to file for benefits from the WSIB.

Co-chair Herne Steelgrave spoke of the implementation of a new policy that denies claims based on “what they refer to as pre-existing conditions”. The group vows to keep fighting for those who are being bounced around by the Board: “we are making waves, we are making changes”.
