Mark June 1st & 2nd on your calendar. Ontario’s Injured Workers Day rally will once again be held in front of the Legislative Assembly. Held on June 1st to commemorate the day in 1983 when injured workers gathered in such large numbers to have their voices heard, the Standing Committee considering major changes to workers’ compensation law had to hold the public hearing outside on the grounds of Queen’s Park.
Injured workers gather again this year to let the government hear their response to recent and proposed changes. The rally will be followed by a joint ONIWG/OFL conference to address the 72-month lock-in and how Ontario’s workers’ compensation system could be improved to work for everyone’s benefit.
