Virtual celebration of the life of John Rae

|

“The Alliance for Equality of Blind Canadians invites you to join them in a safe place to share memories, stories and tributes to John Rae, a true and unique advocate. Everyone is welcome to join us for a couple of hours of reflections and reminiscences.

But John was more than just an advocate—he was a sports fan, a music fan, and a foody—or gobbler! He was also affectionately known to all of us as “the penguin”. Therefore, we expect that people will have many different items to share. There will be no formal ceremony. All we ask is that, should you want to perform a song or poem or other piece of artistry, that you contact me at president@blindcanadians.ca in advance so we can ensure you have five minutes set aside for you. Everyone else will be held, if possible, to two minutes or less, depending on the number of attendees, in order to maximize the number of people who can share.

Please note that the gathering will be recorded, for those who couldn’t make it and want to be a part of it and for those who want to revisit it in the future. Please also note that you will be muted when you join the meeting.”

Please share this notice with anyone who knew John. Accommodations: ASL and CART, with gratitude to the Council of Canadians with Disabilities.
