Migrant Workers Alliance for Change launch report

The Migrant Workers Alliance for Change will release a report Unheeded Warnings: COVID-19 and Migrant Workers. The report documents complaints on behalf of over a thousand migrant workers and their organizations that were unheeded by federal and provincial authorities and consulates in advance of the recent COVID-19 outbreaks, which have led to one worker’s death and at least two in Intensive Care.

Migrant Workers Alliance for Change, MWAC, is a 28 member coalition of grassroots migrant-led organizations of farmworkers, care workers, undocumented people, international students and supporters. MWAC is also the secretariat of the Migrant Rights Network – Canada’s largest migrant justice coalition.

To launch the report, migrant workers from farms currently experiencing COVID-19 outbreaks will be speaking via video, including those currently refusing to return to work. Register at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_je1CgEvLRPCEcO-Z3T_rSg to join the Zoom meeting.
