The Ford government made a promise back in April to explore increasing wage loss benefits for injured workers by 5%. This hasn’t happened yet. On August 8, the Ontario Legislature will be back in session. That means the government will be setting their priorities for the months ahead and we can make our voices heard.
The Ontario Federation of Labour is organizing the “Listen Up! Workers demand an Ontario for all!” rally at Queen’s Park in Toronto on August 8th to ensure workers are a part of the conversation – and injured workers should be there too. The rally begins at noon, but we would like to use this as a chance to get together a little bit earlier, catch up, and share some food!
IWC invites you to meet at Queen’s Park for a pizza picnic.
When: Monday August 8th at 11:30am
Where: Meet at the south end of the park (the part of the park closest to the Queen’s Park subway station).
We will have our big yellow JUSTICE FOR INJURED WORKERS banner, and should be easy to spot.
We will enjoy some pizza and socialize, then join the larger rally as a group at noon to demand that the Government of Ontario does the right thing for injured workers and all workers! Including:
Raising WSIB Loss of Earnings benefits
Raising ODSP benefits
Raising minimum wage
Guaranteed paid sick days
Better public services
Making life more affordable
If you will be joining us for pizza, please RSVP to info@iwc.clcj.ca or call IWC Reception at 416-461-2411.
We hope to see you there!
