Free screening & discussion: Dirty Laundry – a film about asbestos

| Jackman Hall, Art Gallery of Ontario

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health invites you to a screening of the Conor B. Lewis and Zack Johnson film Dirty Laundry … a film about asbestos.  “The filmmakers and cousins embarked on a 4,200-mile cycling journey from Astoria, Oregon, to New York City to better understand mesothelioma, the asbestos-related cancer that took the life of their grandmother, Iva Lewis. “Dirty Laundry” tells Iva’s story through a series of interviews with family members, doctors and researchers …. Originally beginning as a personal tale of Iva’s life and sudden death, it turned into an in-depth documentary about asbestos exposure and mesothelioma…. ”

An expert panel discussion will follow the screening:

  • Linda Reinstein – Co-founder of Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization
  • Robert DeMatteo – Occupational health researcher and educator associated with the Occupational Health Clinic for Ontario Workers (OHCOW)
  • Dr. Ray Copes – Public Health Ontario
  • Dr. Paul Demers – Cancer Care Ontario
