April 28 is a day when Canadian workers commemorate those who have died , been made ill or injured on the job – and recognize the lasting impact on their families and communities. For the past two years because of COVID-19 the event has been held online. This year once again injured workers will gather in person.
In York Region, the ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Woodbridge Memorial Arena, 5050 Hwy 7, Woodbridge.
In Toronto, the Day of Mourning ceremony will be held 12:00 noon at Larry Sefton Park (just behind City Hall), 500 Bay St – (to be followed by a community delegation led by IW4J and J4MW to the Ministry of Labour at 1:00 p.m.)
For events in other regions throughout Ontario, please check the Workplace Health & Safety Centre website for the 2022 listing of events..
