Injured workers were handing out band-aids in front of the Ministry of Labour building on University Avenue yesterday. This was to underscore the WSIB’s failure to properly fund healthcare services, even as it rewards through large rebates “dangerous” employers with poor safety records. Organized by Injured Workers Action for Justice , community legal workers on the spot arranged for a group of about 20 to meet with a top official from the Ministry so he could hear directly from injured workers hurt so badly by the Marshall system. He promised action on medication coverage and a further meeting. Injured workers will hold him to his word.
