In solidarity with the OFL call for WSIB action on cancer report

August 27, 2020

On July 7, 2020 Dr. Paul Demers of the Occupational Cancer Research Centre (OCRC) released a report highlighting occupational cancer and WSIB claims. The report reveals that a disproportionate number of workers are denied occupational cancer claims in Ontario compared to other European countries. As a result, workers and families in need of services and support are left without the benefits they deserve.

In response to Dr. Demers’ report, the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) released a statement calling on the WSIB to adopt the recommendations in the report. The Injured Workers Community Legal Clinic (IWC) strongly supports the OFL’s statement. It is time for the WSIB to listen to workers and family doctors.
