Celebrating activists

October 19, 2016

A reminder that the annual event to celebrate labour and injured worker activists is fast approaching (November 4). This year the dinner will be held on the last evening of the Joint OFL/ONIWG  Conference and take place in the Toronto Don Valley Hotel (see award dinner registration).

Jenny Zhou at Injured Workers Day 2016The 2016 injured worker award will recognize Jenny Zhou’s contributions to the community. Jenny, a member for many years of the Chinese Injured Workers’ Group,  is an active participant in law reform and advocacy events – including the presentation in public hearings on the Harry Arthurs’ WSIB Funding Review, Injured Workers’ Day and Day of Mourning. A valued member of the Justice Singers,  Jenny is a graduate of the Injured Workers’ Speakers’ School and uses her knowledge in her powerful public speaking.

The activist appreciation awards are organized by the Workers Health and Safety Centre in cooperation with the Toronto and York Region Labour Council, the Central Ontario Building Trades, the OFL Occupational Disability Response Team and Injured Workers Consultants.
