The Ontario Network of Injured Worker Groups and Ontario Federation of Labour are joining forces June 1-2 to honour 100 years of workers’ compensation in Ontario – and collaborate on strengthening it for present-day and future injured workers. The rally on Injured Workers’ Day (beginning 11:00 a.m. outside the Legislative Assembly at Queen’s Park) will conclude with a march down to the Ministry of Labour on University Ave. The OFL/ONIWG Workers’ Compensation Conference will begin following the march on Monday afternoon and all-day Tuesday at the United Steelworkers’ Hall, 25 Cecil St, Toronto. An exciting programme for injured workers and activists will examine the relevance of the founding principles, review recent changes and problematic issues, and work on strategy and actions to engage all in ensuring a fairer system.
